Poor Studio at Makers Day

With Arts & Tilah, we were able to secure a last minute table at Liberty Science Centers Makers Day( Friday the 22nd to the 23rd). There was a lot going on. There was 3D printing, robotics, coding, crafting with circuits and so much more. It was an amazing day. At our table, we previewed our app. Since it’s still in development, it was a pretty limited demonstration but i think it still blew the minds of a lot of people who weren’t familiar with the concept of Augmented Reality.

Our Table

At our table, though hard to tell with just a glance, there was a whole world of things going on. Though just a prototype demo, the app was fully functional. We printed custom images that worked specifically with the app and each had their own pre-made animations.

As simple as it was people were consistently amazed with what they say. I think they were even more amazed at what a young black kid could do with some pictures and his phone. It was really nice to share the experience with those who stopped by.

Experiencing the app

Experiencing the app

Outside of demonstrating the app, we were there to explain how easy and accessible the knowledge is to create something with the technology. Some of our future plans with the app and our overall goals as a newly created digital studio:

We are looking into creating programs to help underprivileged kids get access to these types of technology and teach them the basics of how to get started in the creative and tech industries. We will teach self-sufficiency, entrepreneurship, business and of course: Using your born creativity to set yourself apart.
